If you rename a method or add a new method in a unit that is in the uses list of the unit you are currently working in, you get an outdated list from Code Insight that does contain the old method name and doesn’t contain the new method.
This video shows what the upcoming IDEFixPack does to Code Insight to make it more up to date:
Wow! I need this.
Hi,
impressive what i see, specially because i experience all this slowness that you describe and the strange things which occur sometimes with Code Insight.
if you need a beta tester, i am brave enough ๐

Hi Andreas,
will this also work for Delphi XE?
Kind regards
Jens
Not at the moment. I get access violations if I use the code in Delphi XE. Seems Embt has changed something (=> slowing down the compiler)
So this would be a reason to switch back to D2010
No, it’s only a matter of time till I find out what is going on in Delphi XE. And I will not release IDEFixPack until it works with Delphi XE.
And the reason was home-made. A missing “+1”.
I’m in trouble. I’m working and thinking about this new feature. It even “exist” and I already can’t work without it. lol
Emba should give you access to the IDE sources. I can’t see your digging in the binaries any longer. What waste of (your) time. Emba please help! It hurts!
Embarcadero has been wasting everyone’s time with this Code Insight for years.
Theirs, by working on a feature that’s essentially broken in the real world, ours, by having us deal with a periodically freezing IDE and half-baked code editing features…
Hopefully, Andreas is not just wasting time, but having some fun reverse engineering the binaries ๐
Honestly I cannot wait to get my hands on this. If it consistently works as well as it does in your videos you will have fixed my number one longstanding gripe with the Galileo IDE. Expect your donate button to get a workout.
Hi Andi
I would like to test the new IDEFixPack with out Project. We have currently more than 10 Million Locs, so we could test your Enhancements with a very big project
I would love to have this fix for Delphi 7. I still use it because it’s faster and leaner than the latest IDEs. Currently CodeInsight is so slow the IDE is a hindrance to development because the moment you start to type and it tries to re-parse the code I get a wait cursor for at least a couple seconds.
I brought up the speed of CodeInsight with Mike Rozlog and he invited me to provide a use case, saying he had never seen such an issue and they had done a lot to optimize Code Insight. I am still surprised by this remark as IMHO any “real” developer has encountered this problem. That’s one of the reasons why I asked if the new compiler was leveraging LLVM so we might get better CodeInsight information, faster.
There will be a new DelphiSpeedUp for Delphi 7 and 2007 that contains the whole Code Insight patch (that I have back-ported yesterday).
